Working with Organisations

We mobilise our resources to where we can have the most impact for climate change and nature.

We maximise the expertise of organisations and work with them to co-create tailored packages specifically for their service users.Ā

Whether you work with groups actively involved in the climate and nature conversation already, or with groups who are interested to get involved, we will meet your community where they are at, and train them in influencing local and national change on the climate issues that are important to them. We are especially keen to give under-represented groups the support they need to be able to increase their political influence.

Bespoke workshops and trainingĀ

Whether your audience is new to campaigning or already have relationships with their politicians, our in person or online workshops meet your audience where they're at and provide them with the skills to:
ā€
- Navigate parliament and local government
- research their politicians to find common interest
- Make a compelling case for action in written and verbal form
- Craft a strong ask for their politician relevant to your organisation's mission or their own local needs

Campaign and Lobbying strategy development and delivery

If you would benefit from support to identify strategic constituencies or target areas to further your organisation's mission, or you would like support crafting an effective strategy for engaging a particular MP, our team are on hand to help

On hand advice and expertise

By working with our team on an ongoing basis, you'll have a designated Engagement Officer at the other end of the phone or via email to support with anything from de-briefing after a political or campaign moment, or quickly helping you or your membership to prepare for a last minute MP meeting

Resource creation

Would your membership or supporter base benefit from some step by step written guides to effective political engagement on your mission area? We can produce written and video guides completely tailored to your campaign, covering a range of topics such as:
ā€
- Researching your politician(s)

Event Facilitation

Inviting politicians to community events is a fantastic way to show a broad and diverse constituency mandate for climate action. Our team can take the end-to-end event management off your hands, with the key focus being ensuring we're co-creating the event with the community and aiming to secure at least one political commitment from the event.

Case Studies

Weā€™re supporting NFFNā€™s MP Farmer Engagement Officer, to support more farmers across the UK to effectively engage their MPs on nature friendly farming.
ā€
Post-election, weā€™ll be supporting farmers in Sevenoaks, Devon and Derbyshire to hold roundtable discussions with their incoming MPs, connecting MPs to relevant stakeholders, and pushing nature friendly farming higher up their agenda. Thank you to the Samworth Foundation for funding this work.

We delivered an interactive workshop at the Muslim charities Forum ā€œSeeds for Tomorrowā€ Climate Action event, where they launched their climate action report. Our session was designed to upskill the charity professionals attending in effective engagement with politicians on climate action, growing their confidence in professional political engagement as they, and the Muslim communities they represent, take the key findings of the research to policy makers across the UK.

We supported community groups in Oxford, and members of WWF-UK, to run a series of nature-focused community events, bringing together the community with their MP, Anneliese Dodds. The events focused on the recommendations in the Peopleā€™s Plan for Nature, specifically those relevant to Anneliese and her role as Labour Party Chair. Anneliese was invited to a community discussion at Oxford City Farm, and was invited to tour the farm. She went on to agree to translate the recommendations from the Peopleā€™s Plan for Nature into her day to day work.Ā

We developed a bespoke three part ā€˜Train the Trainerā€™ programme for Zero Hour campaigners; people across the UK campaigning for the Climate and Nature Bill to be backed by all parties. The programme provided the cohort with a step by step guide to Hope for the Futureā€™s relationship based approach, facilitatory skills for delivering their own training sessions, and tips and tricks for making traction with MPs.

Zero Hour: Train the Trainer

We supported the Wirral Environmental Network to run the ā€˜Big Wirral Environmental Debateā€™ bringing together 12 parliamentary candidates from across four constituencies under one roof prior to the 2024 general election. After hosting a main debate for the 120 Wirral residents, residents from each constituency were invited to break off into smaller groups to talk directly with their candidates

It's been an absolute pleasure - you're all so knowledgeable and expert in your field, and being able to tap into this and pass on to our campaigners (to pass onto others!) is a really invaluable resource and opportunity for us, and can only bring real benefits to our work. Our campaigners have been giving us some great feedback on all the sessions, and now that the Election has been called are even keener to put this all into practice very soon.

Partnerships Manager, Zero Hour

ā€œThanks so much for putting the event together. I thought it was really brilliant. You asked for feedback so I wanted to mention that I really liked how you made it so relevant to our specific campaign, with examples of things we could say that relate very specifically to our work. I liked that we had a chance to share what we might use as our ā€˜hookā€™ with the other attendees.ā€

Anna, Director of Flight Free UK

We were a pretty experienced group of campaigners but we still all learnt a great deal from the session. Laura and Fergus very clearly explained the most effective ways of communicating with decision makers. There is a lot of psychology and hard science behind what we were being taught but it was explained in a very clear and appropriate way. Thanks!

Hope for the Future is one of the leading (if not the leading) UK organisations working to equip people and communities across the UK to effectively communicate about the climate and nature crisis with politicians. Their breadth of expertise and accessible trainings, reflected by their whole staff team, has been a huge support to MP engagement efforts on the Warm this Winter campaign. I have often recommend them to colleagues and partners within the environment sector who are looking to maximise impact with politicians, particularly through local organising.
