We exist to drive inclusive action on climate change

We enable people to have a say in environmental decision-making

We are the UK’s only charity dedicated to training and supporting people to engage in effective and constructive conversations with their local politicians on climate and nature. Our unique approach enables people to have a say in environmental decision-making.

We don’t have our own agenda.

We train and provide ongoing support for people in how to use their power, not the subject areas they want to use their power for.

In an era where political discourse often feels polarised beyond repair, we champion respectful engagement where parties value each other’s viewpoints as the most effective way of achieving change.

Our non-partisan stance means we adapt our approach to individuals and communities' climate and political knowledge and, the climate and nature-related issues that matter to them. Led by communities, we often tackle interconnected social issues such as food poverty, health, travel and rising energy prices that can be improved through climate-focused solutions.

More on our approach...

Tried and tested for more than  ten years.
We have refined a model centred around building long-term relationships with politicians for maximum impact.

Using our experience of engaging representatives on climate change, our approach to influencing change focuses on relationship-building including communicating with empathy, finding common ground, conversational techniques and asking for effective action.

Case Studies

“I'm impressed by the way Hope for the Future is facilitating meetings between MPs and their constituents. This dialogue is so important as we generally get a very biased view of politics and this brings a much greater understanding that we are all working together for a fairer and more sustainable world”

Yorkshire Constituent, 2023

“We were a pretty experienced group of campaigners but we still all learnt a great deal from the session. Laura and Fergus very clearly explained the most effective ways of communicating with decision makers. There is a lot of psychology and hard science behind what we were being taught but it was explained in a very clear and appropriate way. Thanks!”

Steve Clarke, No Airport Expansion!

“The support I received from Hope for the Future gave me reassurance and confidence - my meeting with my MP wouldn't have been the same without the help without HFTF.”
