A Future For All: Empowering Parents to Drive Climate Action

Breaking Down Barriers

Climate decisions affect everyone, yet not everyone is having a say in shaping the policies that address climate and nature.

Parents—especially those from low-income households and those with disabled children—are often unheard.

Barriers like time, accessibility, and confidence keep families from engaging with politicians and shaping policies that affect them.
If we are to ensure that everyone's voice is heard in shaping climate and nature policies, something must be done.

A Future for All

That is why, over the next five years, we are working with Rowanbank Environmental Arts & Education, Contact, Parents for Future, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Through a mix of theatre, community support, advocacy training, and research - we are co-creating spaces and pathways for families to take part in climate advocacy in ways that are relevant, accessible and impactful.

This starts outside, inviting families to enjoy Rowanbank Environmental Arts & Education's Positive Imaginings.

How we will Deliver Change

Hope for the Future's follow-up events will develop collective ‘manifestos’ for change and build skills and confidence that translate to parents engaging directly with policymakers and actively shaping the policies affecting them.

Throughout, Contact’s deep expertise of their audience and network will support the engagement and meaningful inclusion of parents of disabled children at every stage. LSE's research will strengthen our collective approach and future models for inclusive advocacy.

Stay tuned to find out how to get involved!

Thanks to National Lottery Players

Thanks to National Lottery players, we have received over £1.4 million over five years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to work with parents with disabled children to enable them to contribute to climate action within their communities. The funding is part of the funder’s Climate Action Fund programme.
