We know that your MP is constantly being lobbied by the oil and gas industry. Let’s make sure they’re hearing from the people they’re supposed to serve – us.

Those who have the most to lose from a green transition – ie, those who profit off environmental destruction – the fossil fuel industry, the aviation and car industries, privatised water companies, – are massively investing in influencing our politicians and our governments. 

‍

For instance – we know that Labour ministers met with fossil fuel industry lobbyists 506 times during their first year in government, a 48% increase on 2023.* 

‍

Major oil companies are also pouring record levels of ‘donations’ into the mainstream political parties. And they’re doing this because they’re scared of us, the climate movement, because we threaten their ability to profit off the destruction of our planet. 

‍

We know that corporate money has a pernicious effect on our democratic system, that it warps our politics and stands in the way of a just transition. 

‍

But we also know that we have something the corporate lobbyists will never have: people power. It's time to reclaim lobbying - as a democratic right - from the corporations working against us. We need you to become a counter-lobbyist, or a lobbyist for people & planet.
