The Spending Review (which is expected to be announced in June 2025), is set to play a pivotal role in not only ‘setting the agenda for the rest of this parliament but also allocating spending for various government departments for 2026 onwards’. Even though it may feel like a while away, key decisions will already be being made over the next 3 months, and with millions worried about being able to keep warm this winter, now is a vital time to make our voices heard. It is important that ahead of this key moment, people across the UK communicate the ways they and others in their communities have struggled this winter, and build political support for Warm Homes and Insulation.
Join Hope for the Future and Warm This Winter in this session designed for people (representing groups or attending as individuals) who are already engaged in local action and have contacted or met with their local politician/s about solutions to both the climate and energy bills crisis (such as creating warm homes, improving insulation, having clean energy and support for those affected by high bills), but want to build these skills further. Our training will share skills and ideas to help you to talk specifically about the need for home upgrades and how this connects to bringing down energy bills and tackling fuel poverty (and the health impacts of cold damp homes) ahead of the spending review. It will also focus on strengthening the resilience of campaigners through peer learning and support to explore techniques for effective and impactful political engagement.
